Take It All With You? Leave It All Behind? What If You Can Do Both? // Jason Souza

Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:37–40 (ESV)

Everyone wants a legacy. We all want to create something that will outlast us. Something for which we will be remembered. Something that matters.

We can invest in the Kingdom in the here and now, and trust God that that investment will have a lasting impact through eternity.

Consider building your legacy on the following four pillars.

1) Share YOUR stories of what God has done in YOUR life

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4 (ESV)

2) Share truthful teaching

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (ESV)

3) Share service
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)

4) Share your influence

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9 (ESV)

There's no telling what impact your efforts, in conjunction with the leading and power of the Holy Spirit, might have. An impact that might potentially last for untold generations.

An impact that might well follow you beyond this phase of your eternal life.

Think about it.
