Well, it’s that time of year again. A time when stores seem to think it’s ok to fill their selves with glittery things and people think it’s a good idea to actually buy that stuff! It literally makes my soul cringe!
Sorry, not sorry :)
But, on a serious note, it is the season of giving... and getting I suppose. As parents of three awesome kiddos, Carrie and I struggle (like most parents) with how much to give them for Christmas. Is it too much or too little? Are we being “even” across the board? Do they really even need this stuff? (They don’t by the way).
It really can become a little overwhelming. Especially since they really already have all that they need.
Through it all, we honestly just want them to understand the true meaning of Christmas, what it means to be thankful, and what it means to give to others.
I love that we celebrate Thanksgiving right before Christmas. They really go so well together. A time for us to be Thankful for what we have and then as Christmas rolls around, we are reminded of what we should be most thankful for. God sending His Son to a lost world, to save us from ourselves. It’s the greatest gift of all and the greatest act of giving that there is.
And that is what I want my kids to understand about Christmas more than anything else.
We all do Christmas a little different, and that’s ok. As long as we raise our families to understand what it’s really all about. And not just know it, but actually show it.
Be blessed C3AK!
